Mattress Warehouse believes in caring for the Earth. Not only on Earth Day, but every day! Read on to see how we are doing our part to protect the environment.
What Steps Does Mattress Warehouse Take to Help Our Environment?
On Earth Day 2022, Mattress Warehouse partnered with Ecodrive with the mission to plant 10,000 trees by the end of 2022. Ecodrive plants mangrove trees on protected land in Madagascar, protecting the plot from deforestation. Mangrove trees diminish carbon at a rate two to four times greater than mature tropical forests and contain the highest carbon density of all terrestrial ecosystems. They are also a key part of ecosystems by providing shelter to wildlife.
In addition, Mattress Warehouse has updated the lighting in their corporate office and distribution centers. Mattress Warehouse has vowed to only have the lights on when in use and now uses LED lights with three brightness settings, which will save us an average of 61,681 kilowatt-hour (kWh) per year!
Does Mattress Warehouse Carry Sustainable Brands?
Mattress Warehouse carries eco-friendly lines such as the Beautyrest Harmony Seaqual™. The Harmony and Harmony Lux collections were created in partnership with Seaqual™. Beautyrest and Seaqual™ teamed up to harvest ocean plastics and repurpose them into luxurious fabric used to make sustainable mattresses. Beautyrest Harmony and Harmony Lux mattresses use up to 50 recycled bottles per mattress! In 2021, Beautyrest recovered the equivalent of 13.6 million ocean bottles. Mattress Warehouse is extremely proud to carry products that help keep our earth green & clean.
Tempur-Pedic has also joined the fight to become more environmentally friendly. They now source 100% renewable energy for their US manufacturing operations. Solar panel technology was installed in Tempur Sealy’s largest mattress manufacturing operation in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2021. In the US, Tempur-Pedic recycled 100% of the Tempur-Pedic products returned to them. This equated to over 2.3 million pounds of foam and over 500,000 pounds of metal being recycled. They are also dedicated to achieving zero-landfill waste for those facilities by the end of 2022.
What Should I Do With My Old Mattress?
Call Mattress Warehouse. According to the Mattress Recycling Council, more than 50,000 mattresses are discarded every day. Some companies have decided the solution to this problem is a certified used mattress, but we believe our customers and their families deserve better. It is our commitment to you to provide new, high-quality, factory-sealed products while keeping used products out of landfills.
Our environmentally friendly solution to the disposal of old mattresses is to partner with recycling companies such as Resource Recycling and Recycling Works to deconstruct old mattresses and recycle the materials. These materials, such as metal from box springs and innerspring coils, and cotton from mattress padding, are stripped and sterilized, provided to up-cycling companies, and used to make goods such as dog beds and carpet pads.
At Mattress Warehouse, we are committed to making the world a better, and cleaner, place — one luxurious bed at a time.
