Mattress Warehouse

November 9, 2020 - Mattress Warehouse (mattresswarehouse.com) recently teamed up with the local chapter of the national non-profit Sleep in Heavenly Peace (shpbeds.org) to help Frederick, MD, children in need receive new beds.

SHP’s mission is to build new twin beds and deliver them along with mattresses, sheets, blanket and pillows, to needy families with children ages 4-17 in Frederick County. The organization is made up entirely of volunteers ensuring that “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”

The Key Club at Tuscarora High School organized a pillow and sheet set drive to benefit Sleep in Heavenly Peace on Nov. 7. Mattress Warehouse donated 10 twin mattresses and organized a radio remote with WFRE (Frederick) to help spread the word about the event and the organization as a whole.

“When we heard about Sleep in Heavenly Peace and their mission, we knew we wanted to get involved,” said Tracy Jones, vice president of marketing for Mattress Warehouse. “As a local company, it means a lot to us to support a local organization that directly benefits children in our own community.”

Eric Stephens, board member of the local SHP chapter, said the mattresses would go on beds immediately.

“So many people came by (Tuscarora High School) and mentioned that they came because they heard about the event on 99.9 WFRE,” Stephens said. “We are doing our best to get the word out about what we do and offering beds to any kid in Frederick County that needs one. There are no requirements.”

All told, SHP collected 104 twin sheet sets, 74 pillows, 18 quilts and 10 mattresses during the event at Tuscarora High School.

“Thank you so much again, for all that you guys did for our event last weekend. It was amazing to see the turnout,” Stephens said. “What a blessing! Mattress Warehouse played a HUGE role in the turnout and we are absolutely grateful.”
